How To Avoid Web Scams

Web scams are all over the Internet. Actually there are websites that are just scams waiting for new victims.

These web scams most often involve identity theft and fraud. They do not just steal your money but they also steal your personal information.

Most web sites are legitimate sites that are proven to be customer friendly and offer good services as well as secured online payments.

A good rule of thumb is if you are giving your credit card information online, look for a gold lock in the bottom right corner of the web page.

Also make sure your browser window has https:// displayed instead of http:// because the extra 's' stands for secured site.

Scammers are very good at imitating popular websites. Web scams work so well because they build an identical website which features logos and everything that you would believe was the real one.

After creating the identical website they send e-mails to almost anyone they can. Once you click the links in their e-mail, you are lead to these identical bogus websites where credit card information or passwords are obtained.

You can only imagine what happens once they have this information. Often, you don't even know what happened until it's too late and the scammer is long gone.

If you or anyone you know becomes a victim of one of these web scams make sure you report it. Reporting internet scams to the proper authorities is the best way to prevent other people from becoming new victims of web scams.
